BUYER GUIDE
Custom Bag Embroidery, Patch and Badge Approval Guide
Embroidery, patches and badges need approval on the actual bag material because decoration can change panel shape, seam clearance, flexibility and packed appearance.
Define the requirement before sample approval
A logo file is only the starting point. Buyers should define size, position, colors, edge treatment and attachment, then approve the decoration on production-intent material and on the finished sample.
Prepare artwork for the selected decoration
Provide vector artwork, finished dimensions, color references and a placement drawing. Identify small text, fine lines and gaps that may need adaptation for thread, woven construction, molding or metal.
Approve any simplified or redrawn version before sampling. Record whether the visual must match a master brand file or an agreed decoration-specific interpretation.
Review material behavior and backing
Test the decoration on the selected outer material with the intended lining, padding or reinforcement. Dense stitching can pull soft panels, while patches and badges add weight and stiffness.
Check backing, stabilizer, cut edges and reverse-side coverage so the decoration does not distort the panel or interfere with contents.
Control placement, attachment and seam clearance
Use measurement points rather than descriptions such as centered or near the top. State orientation and acceptable placement variation.
Review clearance from seams, zipper paths, folds, handles and pockets. For sewn, riveted, adhesive or screw-fixed badges, approve the complete attachment and any internal protection.
Approve appearance after packing and handling
Check color, surface marks, loose threads, edge finish, alignment and attachment on the finished sample. Review appearance in the intended lighting and presentation.
Pack and unpack the sample using the proposed method to check crushing, imprinting, snagging and contact with other hardware.
BUYER FAQ
Questions to settle before production.
Should embroidery be approved on a fabric swatch only?
No. A swatch helps review color and stitch quality, but the assembled bag is needed to check placement, distortion and seam clearance.
What belongs in a decoration placement drawing?
Include finished size, orientation, reference edges, distances, priority alignment points and acceptable variation.
Can patch attachment change after sample approval?
Any change in adhesive, stitching, rivets, screws or backing should be reviewed because it can affect appearance, strength and internal protection.
