Custom Bag Strap and Handle Specification Guide
Straps and handles should be specified around the user, intended contents and attachment construction—not copied from a reference image alone.
Define the requirement before packing approval
A practical specification connects finished dimensions, material, hardware, reinforcement and representative loading. Buyers should define how the bag will be carried and what a passing sample must demonstrate before production.
Define the carrying use and size range
State whether the product is hand-carried, shoulder-carried, crossbody or convertible. Record intended contents, representative load and the user size range where fit matters.
Specify finished handle drop, strap length or adjustment range with clear measurement points. Include hardware only when the drawing says it is included.
Select strap material and edge construction
Approve webbing, self-material straps, padded constructions or cords with the finished bag. Review width, thickness, flexibility, edge feel, color and any printing or labels.
Check how the material folds through adjusters and how it behaves at seams. A thicker or softer strap can require different hardware clearance and attachment construction.
Design the attachment and reinforcement
Show stitch pattern, seam allowance, reinforcement layer and distance from bag edges or openings. Review attachment position together with balance and access.
Use the agreed representative load to inspect seam stress, distortion and hardware rotation. The buyer should define method, duration and acceptance criteria for any formal load test.
Approve comfort, adjustment and packing
Check strap adjustment, pull-through resistance, hardware orientation, twisting and contact points on the loaded sample. Confirm that pullers, hooks and buckles remain accessible.
Pack the product as proposed and inspect creasing, pressure marks, tangling and recovery. Record any folding or protective instructions required for shipment.
BUYER FAQ
Questions to settle before production.
How should handle drop be measured?
Use a drawing that identifies the start and end points and whether the bag is empty, filled or lightly tensioned.
Does a wider strap always carry better?
Not automatically. Material, edge feel, attachment, hardware and load distribution must be reviewed together.
What should a strap load check record?
Record the representative load, placement, carrying or suspension method, duration, sample condition and acceptance criteria.
