BUYER GUIDE
Lay-Flat Makeup Bag Hinge and Zipper Geometry Guide
A bag does not become truly lay-flat just because a long zipper is added. The hinge zone, panel depth, zipper route, divider thickness and loaded contents must work as one opening system.
Approve the complete travel-use system
Buyers should describe what must remain visible and accessible at the target opening angle, then approve the structure with representative contents. The pattern and zipper route should follow that use case.
Define the opening target and working position
State whether the bag should open flat on a counter, remain stable at a partly open angle or create two shallow storage zones. Identify the contents that must be visible without lifting layers.
Record the intended working surface, filled weight and any center panel, brush board or removable section that affects balance.
Design the hinge and fold zone
Define the flexible zone between the two storage halves, including its width, layer construction and seam placement. Avoid placing hard reinforcement or bulky seams where the bag must fold.
Check whether the hinge pulls the two halves together, raises the center or lets contents roll into the fold.
Route the zipper through corners and ends
Review zipper length, corner radius, tape alignment, slider direction, puller clearance and end construction. Tight corners and excessive layer buildup can restrict movement.
Confirm that lining, piping and divider edges stay clear of the slider across the complete opening path.
Approve the loaded opening and packed recovery
Load representative bottles, palettes and brushes, then open and close the production-intent sample repeatedly using the intended working position.
After the proposed packing trial, check hinge recovery, zipper alignment, panel distortion and whether the bag still rests in the approved open position.
BUYER FAQ
Questions to settle before sampling.
Does a 180-degree zipper guarantee a lay-flat bag?
No. Hinge construction, panel depth, corner geometry, dividers and loaded balance determine whether the finished bag opens and rests as intended.
What should be included in a loaded opening test?
Use representative contents and check zipper travel, visibility, divider clearance, center stability and closure without forcing the bag.
Why should packed recovery be checked?
Compression can distort the hinge, panels or zipper path, changing how the bag opens after shipment.
