BUYER GUIDE

Custom Bag Carton Assortment and Barcode Guide

A correct bag can still create receiving problems when SKU assortment, barcodes, labels or carton quantities do not match the buyer’s purchase order.

Define the requirement before packing approval

Packing instructions should connect the product SKU, retail label, inner pack, carton and shipping documents. Buyers can reduce receiving errors by defining the hierarchy before production and verifying it on a complete packed sample.

01

Map the SKU and assortment hierarchy

List every style, color, size and pack configuration with a unique buyer or factory reference. State whether cartons contain one SKU or a mixed assortment.

For mixed cartons, provide the exact ratio, sequence and total quantity. Avoid relying on color names alone when several shades are similar.

02

Control barcode and retail label data

Provide approved barcode files or data, human-readable SKU text, label dimensions and placement drawings. Confirm whether labels attach to the bag, hangtag, polybag, insert or retail carton.

Verify scan readability using the production-intent material and print method. A visual match alone does not confirm that encoded data is correct.

03

Define inner packs, carton quantities and marks

State folding, inserts, protective wrapping, units per inner pack and units per export carton. Link carton dimensions and weight limits to the final product and presentation packing.

Specify shipping marks, purchase-order references, destination details and any retailer routing information supplied by the buyer.

04

Run a packed-carton reconciliation

Select a complete packed carton and reconcile physical units, SKU ratio, barcodes, inner packs, carton marks and packing list. Photograph the opened layers and closed carton where required.

Record how shortages, wrong assortments or unreadable labels will be contained, corrected and rechecked before shipment release.
